Friends & Family

Day: 99 (July 2)
Starting location: High Point State Park
Ending location: Vernon, NJ
State: NJ
Miles today: 20.6
Miles total: 1,347.7

After a great night with Kristen's parents, we were back on the trail by 8:30am. We managed to drop our regular packs with Kristen's parents so we could slackpack. We love slackpacking. Hiking with 30 less pounds makes things so much easier.

After our 20.6 mile day, Capt. Karl met us at the trail crossing in Vernon, NJ at 4pm. We drove over to Capt. Karl's high school friend's house in Franklin Lakes, NJ. Tommy Hodgson and Capt. Karl have been great friends since the 6th grade. Tommy and his wife June had dinner catered which was just great. Tommy had invited over friends that Karl hadn't seen since high school! It was a great reunion for them and for us it was so nice to be with friends and family.
