We have come to realize that PA is the land of chipmunks. They are everywhere on the trail! I will be walking along and hear a noise from the bushes and sure enough a little chipmunk will scurry acros the path. I swear I have seen Alvin, Theodore and Simon as well as Chip and Dale.
Speaking of Chip and Dale, today was National Hike Naked Day. Luckily, we didn't seen anyone who chose to observe this specail day. And don't worry, Jason and I were fully clothed. There is no way I am going to subject any extra skin to bugs, sunburns or poison ivy. Yikes!
This evening we are at the 501 shelter which is near the town of Pine Grove. All day we have been looking forward to getting here because you can order pizza to the shelter. Sadly, it turns out that the pizza joint is closed on Mondays. But a local trail angel cooked us up big bowls of Chili! It was great and so thoughtful because she knew we couldn't order in dinner.
