It was so nice to take the weekend off and relax with our friends in Washington, DC. On Saturday Katie and Gallagher took us to REI to pick up a few things for the trail. We both got new boots which we hope will last us for the final 1,200 miles of our journey. I also exchanged the hip belt for the pack since it no longer fit due to all the weight that I have lost. We then took a much needed nap and went out to dinner at Pizzeria Paradiso in Georgetown. Sunday our friends planned an afternoon barbecue which was just awesome. We even did an old school water balloon toss that was so fun.
We orginally planned to get back on the trail Monday but we were enjoying our time off so much we decided to stay until Tuesday.
Ps. A huge thank you to Katie Gallagher Stacy Steve Gabe and Captain. We had the best time just being with y'all this weekend. You all are great hosts and we can't wait to come back and celebrate! We miss you guys already! Thanks for having us!
