Leaving friends and family is always tough to do. Today wasn't out of the ordinary when it came to saying goodbye to our pals. I know Jason said it yesterday, but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Washington, DC. We enjoyed it so much we took an extra day off!
Steve was kind enough to take us back to the trail which was awesome. By 11:30 we were heading north on the AT. In a mile we would be done with Shenandoah NP for good! After a few hours we reached the Jim and Molly Denton shelter, and even though it was early we decided to stop. This shelter had a porch, chairs and a picnic table! It was too nice to pass on by. So we called it a day and set up our tent for the evening. We need days like this every now and then!
