Ready for the Weekend!

Day: 71 (June 4)
Starting location: Not sure
Ending location: Front Royal
Miles today: 18.4
Miles total: 956.4

We hit the trail early in anticipation of our weekend in DC with our friends. We arrived at the Elkwallow wayside just in time to meet up with 6 course and some other hikers who were going to slackpack to the Front Royal Hostel. So we gave our packs to 6 courses Dad who then took them up ahead to the hostel so we could pick them up when we got there this afternoon. Hiking without our packs is so much easier, you can cover much more miles in a shorter timeframe.

The afternoon flew by and before we knew it Katie and Gallagher were there to pick us up. Jason and I were so excited to see our friends that we had missed so much. Katie and Gallagher live with another couple, Stacy and Steve, who we've grown to be great friends with as well. We headed back to the city and were ready for a fun and relaxing weekend! Gallagher treated us to his family secret Spahgetti and meatballs. They were awesome, especially for two hungry hikers. We spent the evening just hanging out with Katie, Gallagher and Stacy (Steve was at work sadly).

The ride back to our old home. You can see the Washington and Jefferson Memorial!
